About Keran Valley Kupwara Kashmir

Keran valley, Kashmir, is a beautiful remote village located close to the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan. The Keran village has a unique history. Before the partition of India and Pakistan, this village was one, but after the partition, the village was divided into two countries. One part of the village is under India, and the other part is under Pakistan. Both parts of the Keran valley are divided only by a river called the Kishanganga River on the Indian side and the Neelum River on the Pakistani side. People from both sides of the village usually wave their hands and greet each other. The other side of the border is famously known as the Neelum Valley. India’s first post office is also located in Keran village, and people love to take pictures with it.

Day 03 Keran back to Kupwara and explore Bungus Valley.

After breakfast enjoy your time till 11 am in Keran waving at the people on the other side of the border. Then drive back to Kupwara and Explore Bungus Valley,
Bangus Valley is the most pristine offbeat destinations in Kashmir. Situated towards the Kupwara district of Kashmir, this lush meadow valley is famous for its serene and raw landscape which mostly is dominated by grassy and wavy meadows along the famous river Mawri.
This valley is lately becoming a very touristy attraction as the place makes you feel in the sheer gorgeous landscape of Kashmir. In this valley, you are transported into a different world, free from any crowd, any glimpse of modern structures, and a scanty population. This is the least explored region of Kashmir and hence least exploited by the tourist crowd. The meadows here are situated at an altitude of around 10,000ft and are around 128km from Srinagar.
This valley of Kashmir has two meadows one is called Big Bangus and another small Bangus. The meadows of this valley are surrounded by the towering mountains of Chowkibal, Qazinag, and Shamsbery. The entire area falls in the Trans-Himalaya.
Imagine yourself in the middle of an unending grassland of lush greenery with the forest in the background and the shimmering river dancing beside you. Cliffhangers India arranges a complete tour here with the best of the stays available. Our guides take you to the inside meadows and forests here. Being locals, they are the perfect representatives of this valley.
Late afternoon drive back to Kupwara. Dinner and overnight stay in Hotel in Kupwara.

The valley was a pivotal transit point due to its strategic location along the route. Traders would rest here before embarking on their arduous journey across the treacherous mountain passes. A visit to Gurez Valley is akin to taking a step back in time, immersing oneself in a rich tapestry woven with threads of historical significance.
